Apparently Jorge Posada likes New York.  In fact, he likes New York so much that has reached out to the New York Mets, of all teams.  Posada, who spent his entire career with the Yankees, had a very sub-par season last year.  He hit .235 with a .315 on base percentage.  He is exactly what the Mets DO NOT need.  Yes, the Mets could use a catcher.  BUT, the do not need a guy that is in his late 30′s, can only catch a few days a week (and not very well at that), and hits .235. If that’s what we’re looking for, why not just let me come to Flushing and I’ll catch.

Honestly, I think this is the typical case of a star athlete who just wants to keep playing.  They just don’t know when to finally hang it up.  Posada was a very good player for the Yankees….but that was too long ago.  He does not fit with the Mets and probably won’t get much interest from any other teams.  You could argue that he’d be best served going to an American League team, so he’d have the ability to DH.  The only problem with that is, he hit two freaking thirty-five last year.  That’s not good enough.  Jorge, please…just enjoy your retirement and millions of dollars.  Please don’t tempt the Mets….we know what they’ve done in the past with over-the-hill veteran acquisitions.  PLEASE!

Stories surrounding the New York Mets shortstop, Jose Reyes, have been surfacing for the last couple of days. Those reports indicated that the home-grown Reyes is about to depart the Mets for the new look Miami Marlins.  According to Buster Olney, he thinks the deal will be for 5 years worth roughly $18-$20 mil per [...]

Fans of the New York Mets knew that this day was coming.  We weren’t sure which team it would be, but we knew that some team would make an offer to homegrown Mets shortstop, Jose Reyes.  Well, earlier today, we learned that the Marlins were the first team to offer Reyes a contract for his [...]

The 2011 New York Mets are like a swimmer with an anchor tied to his foot.  That’s the best analogy I can draw.  They have been battling all season long to stabilize their season and get back to the .500 mark.  Every time they’ve reach .500 (the surface), they been pulled right back down under water.  Well, [...]

Fred Wilpon, the majority owner of the New York Mets, has been a relatively quiet owner since buying the team.  However, this morning, news began to break about Wilpon’s comments regarding some of the start players on the New York Mets.  We’ll get to them in a second and address each one. He even called [...]

Last night, I was watching the New York Mets play against the Florida Marlins on a cool, rainy night in Flushing.  I was sitting at home in front of my TV, hoping that the Mets could pull out a win against the ultra talented Josh Johnson.  I sat there, watching the game, reading and tweeting [...]

The 2011 season has been a roller coaster thus far for the New York Mets.  First, they started 5-13…Then they rattle off a week long winning streak.  Then they stumble a bit before standing at 19-21 today.  The Mets pitching Ace is on the DL and will be until probably August.  The Mets promising young [...]

Catching up with the NY Mets & The week ahead

The New York Mets start the season a horrendous 5-13 and were playing like the worst team in baseball.  Since then, they have had a surprising turnaround.  We knew the Mets weren’t as bad as their 5-13 record indicated….but we also knew they weren’t as good as their 6 game winning streak would have you [...]

The 5-13 New York Mets will look to salvage the series finale tonight as they conclude their series with the Houston Astros.  Chris Capuano will be on the mound for the Mets, while an old friend returns to the lineup. Tonight’s Mets Lineup: Reyes (SS), Pagan (CF), Wright (3B), Beltran (RF), Bay (LF), Davis (1B), [...]
